This vintage Wedgwood plate entitled “GRIST MILLING”, from the original Clare Leighton “New England Industries” wood block engravings, features a beautiful black & white design depicting the picturesque water-powered mill that was used to grind raw wheat into flour. Made in 1952 by Wedgwood, the plate is 10.5" in diameter and one inch high. It is imprinted with the name “WEDGWOOD” and “52” on the back of the plate. The signature of Clare Leighton is also on the back of the plate along with a brief description of the industry of Grist Milling.
The plate is in excellent condition and has no discoloration, marks, chips, or scratches. There is some very slight crazing on the back. This is normal though for a piece that is 72 years old. Please see all of the pictures for the details mentioned above. If you have any questions about the item, please send me a message.
It is a rare and exquisite addition to any vintage/antique collection, especially one centering on New England or Wedgwood.
